Fancy on the Outside

It is SO nice to be all out in the open about our bun in the oven! I AM SO EXCITED! We both are, in fact. Braden read in his psychology textbook that infants are drawn to their mother’s voice because it is the most familiar.{mwhahaha, little Pedro, you cannot escape my voice for another 6-ish months…}

Not wanting to be bested in any endeavor, including the perceived competition for the love of our unborn child, Braden has been talking to Pedro. More accurately: talking to my belly.

This morning Braden informed Pedro {translation: my abdomen} that 6 months is just too long to wait. I think Braden just wanted someone to join him for an Angels game this afternoon. Does this little guy look like a baseball fan to you?

I put this 4D sonogram in a frame. Is it bad that I like to cart it around with me?

Today we learned some new baby-related terminology. I’m not sure if this phrase was coined by Bob-O himself, or if others have heard it used. I had never encountered it, so when we visited our former Institute teacher, Bob Wold, to announce our pending parenthood, I was completely baffled by his question, “Fancy-on-the-outside or fancy-on-the-inside?”

Say what? Come again?

Braden caught on faster. I guess since they both lived in England they share some sort of whacky wave-length. Braden responded, “On the outside, I think.”

Now can you guess what we’re talking about?

I could not. I was probably too busy thinking about my next snack or second-lunch.

O-oh, he wanted to know if we’re having a baby boy or a baby girl. And now I have a new favorite phrase. Fancy-on-the-Outside it is. Or at least the Ultrasound technician was super confident that we’re dealing with an XY.

We’ll make sure Pedro is the same kind of fancy in several more weeks.
